Fishing Broken Bow Lake
One of Oklahoma’s most beautiful lakes, Broken Bow Lake, is home to trophy largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish and a variety of pan-fish. The scenic mountains and forest provide a sensational backdrop for one of the state’s favorite fisheries. Access to the lake is through Hochatown State Park. [More...]

The Lower Mountain Fork, which flows through Beavers Bend Resort Park, has become Oklahoma’s premier trout destination. Stocked regularly, the river forms the tailwaters below Broken Bow Lake dam and offers thrills for fly fishermen and spin-casters alike. This is prime trout habitat including a trophy section in the first 3.8 miles of the Broken Bow Lake Dam tailwaters. In April of ’05 this river produced a state record 17 pound brown trout!

Floating the Mountain Fork
Families also float the lower Mountain Fork. Because of the steady release from Broken Bow Lake the water is always cool and moving, even in the hot summer. The scenic float through the forest gives you plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities and just enough whitewater to give everyone a thrill! Also, if you look close enough, you'll see a marker where the trail of tears crossed the river back in the late 1800s when thousands of Native Americans were removed by the federal government to Indian Territory or Oklahoma.  McCurtain County lies in the heart of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

For the more adventurous paddlers the Glover River, Oklahoma’s only remaining free flowing stream, has been known to challenge experienced canoers and kayakers.

Scenic Beauty
But perhaps the best thing to do around Carper Springs is nothing at all! Enjoy the decks and porches, a casual hike through the woods; sit by the lake or river and watch for wildlife. The pace and beauty of our area will bring you a feeling you can’t find in a big city. We promise!
