Broken Bow Lake
Broken Bow Lake is a large, clear, mountain lake. Take the kids for
a boat ride (the lake is 22 miles long) or swim in its cool, refreshing
waters. Bring your own boat or complete boat rentals are available
at Beavers
Bend marina.
Fishing Broken Bow Lake
One of Oklahoma’s most beautiful lakes, Broken
Bow Lake, is home to trophy largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish
and a variety of pan-fish. The scenic mountains and forest provide a
sensational backdrop for one of the state’s favorite fisheries.
Access to the lake is through Hochatown State Park. [More...]
Lower Mountain Fork River (Below Broken Bow Lake)
The Lower Mountain
Fork, which flows through Beavers Bend Resort Park, has become Oklahoma’s
premier trout destination. Stocked regularly, the river forms the tailwaters
below Broken Bow Lake dam and offers thrills for fly fishermen
and spin-casters alike. This is prime trout
habitat including a trophy section in the first 3.8 miles of the Broken
Bow Lake Dam tailwaters. In April of ’05 this river produced a
state record 17 pound brown trout!

Floating
the Mountain Fork
Families also float the lower Mountain Fork. Because
of the steady release from Broken Bow Lake the water is always cool and
moving, even in the hot summer. The scenic float through the forest gives
you plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities and just enough whitewater
to give everyone a thrill! Also, if you look close enough, you'll see
a marker where the trail of tears crossed the river back in the late
1800s when thousands of Native Americans were removed by the federal
government to Indian Territory or Oklahoma. McCurtain County lies
in the heart of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
For the more adventurous paddlers the Glover River, Oklahoma’s
only remaining free flowing stream, has been known to challenge experienced
canoers and kayakers.
Hiking in Broken Bow
There is a reason to hike each season in McCurtain County. Spring is
when the dogwoods and redbuds bloom, chasing away winter and setting
the stage for the new year to come. Wildlife comes alive after the winter
and colorful birds return after escaping the winter cold. [More...]
ATV Riding in McCurtain County
McCurtain County has become an incredibly popular destination for ATV
riders. Several large areas have been designated for ATV, four wheeler
and mountain bike riding including parts of the Ouachita National
Forest, Three Rivers, and Honobia Creek Wildlife Management Areas.

Golf
Cedar Creek Golf Course is an 18 hole par 72 with 8582 total yards of
bermuda grass tees and pine rimmed fairways and bent grass greens. This
course is laid out along the national forest and has incredible lake
views and even an island green. Cedar Creek was rated 4 stars
by Golf Digest Magazine as "Placed to Play 2002" and it has
only gotten better.
Scenic Beauty
But perhaps the best thing to do around Carper Springs is nothing at
all! Enjoy the decks and porches, a casual hike through the woods;
sit by the lake or river and watch for wildlife. The pace and beauty
of our area will bring you a feeling you can’t find in a big
city. We promise!
