The Red Slough House welcomes you to the Red River bottoms of McCurtain County, site of the Ouachita National Forest – Red Slough Wildlife Management Area in Southeastern Oklahoma. The house is nestled on 20 acres of Oklahoma native grass land, part of the Federal Grassland Reserve program, and backs up to a federally protected watershed that is a pit stop for over 200 species of migratory birds.  Pecan trees, some more than 200 years old abound the property.   The Red Slough House is a three bedroom 1.5 bath home that accommodates six adults.

The Red Slough House is just minutes away by auto to the Red Slough Wildlife Management Area, a 5,814 acre wetland project where the animal and plant habitat has been compared to those in Louisiana, Florida and the Gulf Coast.  Over 263 bird species have been spotted there including Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles.  Other plant and wildlife is in abundance with the American Alligator gaining notoriety as a slough resident.

Idabel, Oklahoma, the dogwood capital of Oklahoma, is north just 6 minutes.  Idabel boasts the nationally awarded Museum of the Red River, that houses a Arachnasaurus replica skeleton discovered in the area and a extensive collection of Caddo and Choctaw Indian Artifacts.  Idabel also has the Choctaw Casino owned by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Try your luck at one of their many slot machines or play a hand of Black Jack.  Off track betting is also available.

From spotting a Scissor-Tail Flycatcher, Oklahoma’s state bird, finding old arrowheads, to 4-wheeling on the banks and sand bars of Red River,  the bottomlands of McCurtain County have a host of activities to choose from that will make your stay an unforgettable one.  We hope you choose to come and enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the Red Slough House.
